May 22 2017 – “NHS Healthcare and Social Care to merge under Labour?” by Richard W. Symonds – Gatwick City Times

With the wheels falling off Theresa May’s Social Care policy at astonishing speed, this may be a good time to propose the merger of NHS Health and Social Care – a “joined up system with a single budget” as the former Health Secretary Stephen Dorrell said 2 years ago [Oct 2015*].

Health and Social Care do not reside in a “parallel universe”. It is patently absurd to ‘ringfence’ the NHS Health budget while cutting funding for Social Care. Reality check please Mrs May: Extra funding given to the NHS is not extra funding if, with the other hand, you take money from the budgets of Social Care.
